A good leader is a blessing and a seriously rare commodity these days.

Are you wondering what the best skills for the best leaders are? Are you aware of what it takes, or perhaps you already know? Leaders exhibit humility and a willingness to keep learning. This article is sure to demonstrate a few things that you might not have quite put into practice.
No one is able to read your mind. Clearly communicate what you expect in all aspects of the job and let your employees know they are free to come to you if they have any questions. That way, if staff members don’t understand your instructions, they won’t hesitate to come to you and ask for advice.
Being decisive can better your Leadership skills. Since you’re the leader, many decisions may come down to you. You need to mediate between your employees if they have different views on solutions.
Do everything you can to be approachable. Intimidation is not a good characteristic in a leader. Some think leading with fear is the only way. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you utilize that strategy, you are likely to find that it is an uphill battle to get those who report to you to respect you. Be kind, caring and compassionate instead.
You can compete with other businesses and still uphold your work ethic. If your competitors are doing something shady, do something else instead. You don’t need to mimic them if you wish to be as successful as possible. When you choose the way you compete, you will feel better about it.
To grow your business you should hire employees that have a diverse background. Diversity of age, educational background and cultural origins provides a broader perspective. Don’t hire a bunch of people that are pretty much like you. You will not get the innovation you need. It can also quickly lead to failure.
What are your weaknesses and strengths as a leader? Too much confidence is only going to set you up for failure as a leader. Find your strengths and weaknesses.
Never let winning become an obsession. In this day and age it’s simple to start breaking down everything into goals and spreadsheets. Many leaders do this for creating goals and measuring progress. As you’re doing this, however, be sure you’re focused on an overall culture of team success. Do you know what it takes?
All leaders need to learn how to communicate precisely and succinctly. Make sure your team has the information they need to complete their tasks, including the deadlines. Periodic checks are all that should be necessary to keep the project on track.
Try being more confident and sincere if you’re dealing with customers, clients, and employees. However, do not confuse arrogance for confidence. Arrogance is rarely trusted. Honesty builds a better relationship at the workplace. If you’re insincere people will see that and then they won’t really like you as much.
Mistakes don’t have to be disasters. Instead, they can be an Opportunity to grow. Talking about what didn’t go right and being open with the entire team about this incident can help everyone from making that same mistake later.
As a leader, you should think of yourself as a servant rather than a boss. Being a leader means you’re not only serving your clientele but serving your team, as well. When you embrace this sort of servant Leadership , true success will be yours, and your peers will respect you.
Employees will expect great communication from the leaders. You can best communicate with others by listening to them. Never brush off a team member, or make him feel unheard. Listen any time someone has a suggestion or complaint.
You must remain knowledgeable about changes and innovations within your industry. If you want to remain competitive, you must know what is happening in your field. To be effective, you can’t fall behind. Figure out new ways to do business and be flexible when the business market calls for it.
With all actions, be decisive. Your ability to make a quick decision and stick to it will earn you a reputation as a strong leader. Employees won’t feel comfortable following you is you are cannot make up your mind. Changing your mind on key issues will erode the confidence you worked so hard to build.
If you want to be a good leader, you need to know your weaknesses and strengths. Make sure you really know yourself well order to maximize your talents and improve your problem areas. This will help you improve and also set the standard for your team to meet.
It’s crucial that you show how passionate you are about everything you do in the workplace. Employees want a leader they can look up to and one that is enthusiastic about the future of the company. If you can do this, the positive feelings will spread, making your employees increasingly passionate too. This then forms feelings of camaraderie and team spirit, even for certain challenging tasks.

Team Members 

Leaders are responsible for earning the trust of team members. Instead, as team members begin seeing you are humble and honest, they will begin trusting you. Even during the toughest of times, strive to earn the trust of all those around you.
Use these tips in order to strengthen your Leadership skills. When you decide to become a leader, doors will open for you in the future. Understand this concept and continue with the confidence you need to be successful as a leader.

"Call it magic or call it true." This morning, my son, Nael, and I were watching the video for Coldplay's new single, Magic. Chris Martin's handwritten lyric sheets for their new album, Ghost Stories, can be found here . It's a funny thing with Coldplay. I don't consider myself a major fan but that hasn't stopped me from buying all their CDs. Oh, well... some sort of 'conscious uncoupling' here? Do you remember the movie Wicker Park when The Scientist played near the end. They couldn't have chosen a better song to fit the scene. Interesting, the word Ghost. The Police's Ghost in the Machine (1981) was an excellent album and I like the Cure song, The Hungry Ghost (on 4:13 Dream, released in 2008. In the last month, I came across a few interesting readings on leadership and employees worth sharing. Jacob Morgan has a book out called  The Future of Work: Attract New Talent, Build Better Leaders, and Create a Competitive Organization. He talks about the book in his Forbes post and his manifesto .
